FAQ
  • What about backpacks?  String backpacks are the only type of backpacks allowed in classrooms.  Regular sized backpacks to transport belongings back and forth from home to school may be used, but must be left in the students' lockers during class time.
  • How do I request homework if my child is absent?  Parents may request make-up work only after the student has been absent for three or more days by contacting the office at 361-777-4258.
  • How can I contact the teachers?  You may either call or email the teachers.  During instructional time the calls will go to voicemail or you may leave a message in the office.  You should expect a response within a reasonable amount of time.
  • How do I find out how my child is performing academically?  Contacting the teacher first is always the best method. At the end of the first three weeks of a grading period, parents will be given a written progress report if their child’s performance in any course is near or below 70, or is below the expected level of performance.  If the student receives a grade lower than 70 in any class or subject at the end of a grading period, the parent will be requested to schedule a conference with the teacher of that class or subject.  Dates are posted on the school calendar.  If you do not receive a report at the appropriate time, please contact your child's teacher.
  • What is the cell phone policy?  Students may keep cell phones on them but they must be powered off throughout the school day, 8:00 - 3:35.  Students who have a cell phone that is powered on during the school day will have the phone confiscated and will be charged a $15 fine by the office.
  • When can students go to their lockers?  Students may only go to their locker before 1st period, before lunch to get lunchkit, and after school.
  • Who do I call if I have a bus question?  You may call the transportation department at 361-777-4254.
  • What should I do if I lose or misplace an item?  Objects which are left in the classrooms or found on the school grounds are turned into the lost and found box located in music/gym hallway.  Students are asked to check the box regularly for items that have been lost.  Please mark all personal items with the student’s name.  At the end of a nine week period, items remaining in the lost and found will be donated to a charity.
  • How do I sign up to volunteer at school?  Request a "Volunteer Application" from the front office, complete, and return.  Once you have been approved through the central office you may volunteer at the school.
  • All other questions can be answered in the Student Handbook.
